Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to join our legal team. This role provides essential support to attorneys by managing administrative tasks, conducting research, and ensuring the smooth operation of legal processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and familiarity with legal procedures and tools. Prior experience in legal settings is preferred, along with proficiency in document management and research. Responsibilities
- Proofread and review legal documents for accuracy, clarity, and consistency
- Conduct legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and other online resources
- Assist with legal drafting, including correspondence, pleadings, and other documents
- Manage case files using iManage or similar document management systems
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of case information
- Support project management tasks related to ongoing cases or legal initiatives
- Coordinate interviews and gather information from clients or witnesses
- File documents electronically and physically in accordance with court procedures
- Handle clerical duties such as answering phones with professional etiquette, scheduling appointments, and managing calendars
- Support attorneys in preparing for hearings, depositions, or meetings by organizing relevant materials
Experience
- Prior administrative experience in a legal setting is highly desirable
- Strong proofreading, writing, and research skills are essential
- Familiarity with legal research tools such as LexisNexis is preferred
- Experience with project management and document management systems like iManage enhances candidacy
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail are required
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
- Effective phone etiquette and clerical skills are necessary for daily interactions with clients and team members
This role may require the use of a vehicle. Having a vehicle is considered an asset.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
