Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Registered Pharmacy Technician, where your expertise will directly impact patient care and medication safety. In this vital role, you will assist licensed pharmacists in filing and dispensing prescriptions for patients. Assist patients at counter, retrieve prescriptions, process register transactions. Order and stock drugs, supplies and over the counter merchandise. Update patient records and inventory, process invoices, and make accounting entries using computerized system. Dispense prescriptions medications utilizing pharmacy standards.
Duties
- Complete data entry verification (7 point check) for accuracy of prescriptions to the extent permitted by provincial regulations.
- Assist patients at counter, receive written prescriptions for Pharmacist, and retrieve filled prescriptions. Provide prompt and courteous service. Answer phones, direct members to product location.
- Obtain patient medical history and maintain confidential computer record, assist pharmacist in updating patient profile and entering prescription information into the pharmacy computer to extent permitted by provincial regulation. Preserve patient confidentiality.
- Fill prescriptions by bringing stock bottles, counting medication into appropriate container, labeling, and pricing prescriptions under Pharmacists supervision to the extent permitted by provincial regulations.
- Complete packaging verification for prescriptions previously checked for therapeutic appropriateness by the pharmacist to the extent permitted by provincial regulations. Follows safety and security procedures.
- Alert pharmacist to drug interactions in prescription and over the counter medications.
- Verify prescriptions and refills with physicians by pone as needed and take verbal prescriptions to the extent permitted by provincial regulations. Select generic substitutions when necessary.
- Prepares third-party insurance claims, process invoices and make accounting entries using computerized system.
- Order, receive, tag and stock prescription drugs, supplies and over the counter products. Follow product storage procedures and standards.
- Assist with other assigned duties as necessary
Requirements
- Competed provincial Pharmacy Technician certification or Completed a Pharmacy Technician course at a Community College and the Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada Qualifying Exam.
- Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing in British Columbia.
- Computer, math and member service skills preferred.

Pay: $29.00-$42.40 per hour
