We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to fill an existing vacancy in a private home care setting. This position offers three shifts per week, including every other weekend. The successful candidate must be available to work alternate weekends and demonstrate flexibility to pick up additional weekday shifts as required. The ideal candidate should have expertise in specialized medical care and be comfortable in a home environment with cats. Key responsibilities and requirements include:
Responsibilities:
- Overnight Shift: Ability to work overnight hours in a private home setting.
- Comfortable with Cats: The home has cats, so the candidate must be comfortable around them.
- BIPAP Machine Experience: Proficient in operating a BIPAP machine.
- Feeding Tube Management: Experience in administering medications through a feeding tube.
- G-tube & Oxygen: Must be skilled in managing G-tubes and administering oxygen therapy.
- Cough Assist Machine: Experience with operating and assisting patients using a cough assist machine.
- Catheter Care: Proficient in catheter changes and related care.
- Professional documentation: It is critical, to record and maintain accurate, thorough, and clear written records of patient care and nursing activities.
Requirements:
- RPNs must be in good standing with CNO and must have membership of WeRPN
- Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
- Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Police Check within the last 6 months
- TB test within the last 6 months
- Proof of 2nd dose of Covid-19 vaccination
- *Proof of Booster shot
- Must be familiar with online charting (e.g. MEDITECH, e-MAR, Point-Click-Care)
- N95 Mask Fit
- Must be professional, energetic and compassionate
- Should be able to work in a fast-paced, busy environment
- Should be comfortable working solely and/or in a team environment
- If required must be flexible to pick up shifts during the weekdays and weekends
