Student Archaeologist
The Organization:
A.E.W. LP was formed in 2017 by Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council member communities to carry out “on the ground” work related to archaeology, the environment and wildlife protection. This work has been made necessary by activities of others within the Nlaka’pamux homeland including transportation, mining, forestry, oil and gas, and utilities projects. The Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council is not opposed to development within our homeland, but developments and activities must be consistent with Nlaka’pamux title and rights.

- A wage range of $25.00 – 30.00 per hour with overtime.
The Role:
A.E.W. Limited Partnership (A.E.W. LP) is seeking full-time fixed term Student Archaeologists to join us in Kamloops, BC. This term position will be from May to September, and students will gain hands on experience conducting surveying, shovel testing, researching, and artifact analyzing. The position will be shift based for extended periods of time in all weather conditions. Reporting to the Director of Archaeology & Natural Resources, the Student Archaeologist will:
- Conduct background research
- Conduct survey and shovel testing
- Record and maintain accurate field notes
- Collect and log GPS data
- Assist with site mapping
- Assist with evaluative unit excavations
- Commitment to be a positive team member
- Commitment to respecting Nlaka’pamux title and rights
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A recent graduate or currently enrolled in a recognized Archaeology or Anthropology degree program.
- Possess a current and valid Canadian Driver’s License.
