Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our client's dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and maintaining complex database systems to ensure data integrity, security, and high performance. This role requires a deep understanding of various database technologies and scripting languages, along with strong analysis skills to support business operations and strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead database performance and capacity planning, defining frameworks and standards.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Software Development, and Business Analysts to ensure successful delivery of multiple initiatives.
- Manage performance issues in custom code released to production.
- Develop comprehensive test plans and maintain testing scripts.
- Evaluate change management requests, including impact analysis and time/cost estimation.
- Support and write scripts (Perl, shell, PL/SQL) for database monitoring and maintenance.
- Define and implement database system architecture across environments.
- Provide off-hour DB support on rotation as required.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in computer science, information systems, or computer engineering.
- 10+ years of DBA experience strongly preferred
- MS SQL Server and Oracle databases Strongly preferred
- Experience with data architecting, large-scale data modeling, and business intelligence.
- Experience with Oracle Exadata, DataGuard and VEEAM backup solutions exposure considered an asset
- Direct experience implementing enterprise data management processes and decision support.
- Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Experience in capacity planning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting for both SQL Server and Oracle.
- Experience with multi-site replication, HA clustering, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Knowledge of Web Services and SQL.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strategic vision for database direction within the organization.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise repository and data modeling tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (MS Project, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
