We are currently seeking a Banana Ripening Technician to join our team. While we are willing to provide comprehensive training on banana ripening processes, candidates must have previous experience working with fresh produce and demonstrate strong leadership and organizational abilities.
Preferred Background
Candidates should have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Fresh Produce Inspector
- Produce Manager or Assistant Produce Manager
- Retail Produce Department
- Commercial Kitchen or Food Service Environment handling fresh produce
- Fresh Produce Warehousing or Distribution Operations
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage banana ripening rooms and processes.
- Evaluate fruit quality, color progression, and readiness for customer requirements.
- Coordinate inventory movement and product rotation.
- Ensure food safety, quality, and operational standards are maintained.
- Identify potential issues and implement corrective actions before they impact operations.
- Work closely with operations, quality assurance, and customer service teams.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting using computer-based systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Lead and assist team members in daily operations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with fresh produce is required.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a supervisory or team-lead capacity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and inventory management systems.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proven ability to anticipate challenges and take proactive action.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of food safety programs, HACCP, GMPs, SQF, or other food safety systems is considered an asset.
- Forklift certification or warehouse experience is an asset but not required.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required by operational needs.

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
