Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Coffee Roasting Foreman/Woman. This role is vital in ensuring the efficient and safe processing of food products within our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and mechanical operations, contributing to the production of high-quality food items in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Operate and monitor coffee roasting machines to ensure quality and consistency
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of roasting and packaging staff
- Train new employees on roasting techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards
- Maintain roasting logs, production records, and inventory reports
- Perform routine mechanical checks and basic troubleshooting on equipment
- Apply basic math skills for measurements, weight checks, and inventory counts
- Maintain accurate records of production data and quality control measures
- Support adherence to food safety standards throughout all stages of production
- Supervise at least 1 other team member
Qualifications
- Experience or familiarity with packaging, food industry operations, or manufacturing environments preferred
- Mechanical knowledge or aptitude for troubleshooting equipment issues is a plus
- Ability to operate forklifts safely (certification preferred)
- Creating roasting profiles for a wide variety of coffees
- Highly knowledgable in coffee brewing (manual, espresso, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety protocols
- Prior experience in the specialty coffee industry
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 kg
- Willingness to work early morning or evening shifts
Working Conditions
- Physically demanding environment (heat, noise, standing for long periods)
- Repetitive tasks and tight production deadlines
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required and provided
Expected to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
