Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will execute the day-to-day accounting functions and financial reporting for the winery, vineyard, restaurants, and hospitality operations. This role requires a strong accounting background, analytical mindset, and the ability to manage multiple revenue streams, inventory systems, and operational departments. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Maintain accurate fixed asset, depreciation, and inventory records.
- Monitor vineyard and production costs, including labor, farming inputs, and winemaking expenses.
- Track wine inventory from grape harvest through production and sales.
- Monitor and enforce inventory controls and monitor cost of goods sold reporting.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Reconcile point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash receipts, and merchant settlements.
- Oversee accounts payable and vendor payment processes.
- Manage customer invoicing, collections, and account reconciliations.
- Maintain strong internal controls and approval processes.
Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, tax regulations, and industry-specific reporting requirements.
- Support preparation of sales tax, and government reporting filings.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen cost efficiency and financial controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation preferred.
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in winery, agriculture, hospitality, restaurant, manufacturing, or consumer goods industries.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting and cost accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Experience with POS systems, inventory management software, and ERP platforms is an asset.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.
- Must be able to reliably commute to Lake Country, BC or plan to relocate before starting (required)

Salary: $75,000-$85,000/yr depending on experience
