Estate 1909 Winery is seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Chef to lead the culinary operations of our Bistro and growing events program in Langley, BC.

Role Overview
The Executive Chef is responsible for all culinary operations at Estate 1909 Winery, with a primary focus on the Bistro and event-related food service. This role oversees menu development, food quality, staffing, training, inventory management, and financial performance while supporting a growing calendar of weddings, corporate events, private functions, and winery experiences.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Lead all culinary operations for the Bistro and event services at Estate 1909 Winery
- Develop and execute seasonal menus, features, and event offerings that complement the winery experience
- Plan and oversee food service for weddings, corporate events, private functions, and winery experiences
- Maintain exceptional standards of food quality, consistency, presentation, and guest satisfaction
- Manage food and labour costs while achieving profitability targets
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop kitchen team members
- Create and manage staff schedules based on business volumes and event requirements
- Oversee inventory, purchasing, vendor relationships, budgeting, and forecasting
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
- Collaborate with management teams to deliver exceptional dining and event experiences
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Leading and developing the culinary team
- Providing coaching, performance management, and ongoing training
- Fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing kitchen culture
Working Conditions

- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Flexibility to support weddings, winery events, and private functions throughout the year
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a professional kitchen
- Minimum 1 year of catering and/or event culinary experience is considered a strong asset
- Proven experience managing food costs, labour, inventory, and kitchen operations
- Strong culinary creativity with experience in menu development and execution
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to food quality, presentation, and guest satisfaction
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Food Safe Level 1 certification required
- Experience supporting weddings, corporate events, private functions, and special events is an asset
- Experience launching new culinary concepts and programs is an asset
- Wine, winery, or hospitality venue experience is an asset
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 is an asset
