The Canyon Meadows Community Association (CMCA) is looking to hire a full time Camp Counsellor for a seasonal internship. A good fit for this role will be interested in event planning and community engagement, be a self-starter with the ability to work independently, and have the skills to effectively plan and develop programs aimed at community engagement.
This role will work directly with the public and be the face of CMCA. As such, the successful applicant will be coached in conflict resolution and customer service. The expectation is for the candidate to represent and promote our community in a positive and energetic way.
The successful applicant will be self-directed, and will embody the CMCA’s values of respect, accessibility, and belonging. To be successful, an applicant will need to be able to communicate with staff and volunteers, to gather information, and anticipate the needs of the community. The Camp Counsellor will be exposed to the challenges, opportunities and rewards that come with working in the non-profit sector. Some key points of the role include:
- Organizing and facilitating our summer kids club program, for ages 4-12, and provide a fun, welcoming, and safe environment for community kids. The day camps have weekly themed activities, including sports related games, crafts, community driven programming, and is affordable and accessible for all community members.
- Working collaboratively with our General Manager, the candidate will gain skills in planning, teamwork and communications. The Camp Counsellor must be punctual, organized, reliable, and responsible.
- The candidate will be supplied with access and training on both written and digital devices and software, including artificial intelligence, to plan and run the camp program.
The successful applicant will report directly to the General Manager and be provided with consistent and constructive training & direction. They can expect positive mentorship and encouragement to succeed in this role. CMCA is committed to being an inclusive employer.
Pay: $17.00 per hour
