Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and community-minded youth leader to join our organization as a Program Supervisor – Sports and Leisure for the summer season.
Our organization provides recreational childcare programming for children and facilitates community engagement events throughout the summer. This role is ideal for individuals interested in childcare, recreation, sports programming, leadership development, education, or community services.
The successful candidate will work both in-office and directly within programs to support children, junior staff members, and community initiatives in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in leadership, program planning, mentorship, recreation programming, and child development.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning and implementation of sports, recreational, and educational programming for children and youth
- Supervise and monitor children during indoor and outdoor activities while ensuring safety and well-being at all times
- Assist leadership staff with mentoring, guiding, and supporting junior team members
- Lead age-appropriate activities that encourage teamwork, creativity, physical activity, learning, and social development
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for all participants
- Foster positive behaviour, inclusion, and respectful interactions among children and staff
- Support children with diverse needs by adapting activities when required
- Assist with community outreach initiatives and special events
- Complete administrative and computer-based tasks related to programming and daily operations
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to ensure successful program delivery
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in childcare, camps, recreation, education, sports, or caregiving settings is considered an asset
- Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
- Compassionate, patient, dependable, and professional attitude
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Basic computer skills
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
- Clear Criminal Record Check required
- Responsible Adult Certification required (may be completed after hiring)

To be eligible for this position through the Canada Summer Jobs program, applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status in Canada
