1. Course Design: Work with various Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to effectively blueprint and design instructional content, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and pedagogical best practices, while coordinating with other Learning Technology teams for technical development of courses.
2. Technology Integration: Research and recommend the integration of emerging technologies into instructional design processes in alignment with Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Strategic Plan and the Learning and Teaching Division’s Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) Plan.
3. Professional Development: Stay current with trends and best practices in instructional design and educational technologies to support Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Strategic Plan and TEL Plan.
4. Needs Assessment: Conduct learner and content needs assessment in collaboration with SMEs to inform effective course design and revisions.
5. Authentic Assessment: Guide the development of authentic assessments in collaboration with SMEs to ensure appropriate and meaningful evaluation of student learning.
6. Accessibility and Inclusivity: Create accessible, and inclusive learning experiences using universal design for learning (UDL) principles and Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Quality Standards for Online Courses.
7. Project Management: Independently manage the lifecycle of assigned course design projects, effectively balancing multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholder expectations to ensure successful completion.
8. Open Education Resources: Support the use of open educational resources in e-learning.
9. Faculty Consultation: Provide instructional design consultation to faculty, recommending evidence-based practices and strategies for learner-centred course design.
10. Feedback Incorporation: Gather and analyze feedback from faculty and learners to iteratively improve course design quality and effectiveness.
11. Collaboration: Actively engage Learning Technologies staff and distributed development teams.
12. Perform related duties to instructional design and educational technologies.
13. Be prepared to travel as part of the role.
