Job Summary
Our high pace dynamic hospitality team is looking for a couple Food and Beverage Servers. Enthusiasm, & interest in community, dedication to your work will be key to ensuring integration with a veteran FOH team focused on face pace, quality service that adds enjoyment to the dining experiences for our guests. In this lively role, you will be expected to deliver exceptional customer service by taking orders, serving food / beverages, and ensuring every guest feels welcomed and valued. Your energy, attention to detail & ability to multitask as a member of the team will help foster an upbeat atmosphere that keeps longtime / regular guests and new patrons leaving impressed and well fed time and again. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced food industry environment while making genuine connections with our guests, working for Nelson's longest established independent restaurant.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and present menus with enthusiasm to set a positive tone for their dining experience
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS (Point of Sale) systems such as Micros POS, ensuring timely processing
- Serve food and drinks efficiently while maintaining high standards of presentation and sanitation
- Assist with menu items to enhance guest satisfaction and help ensure quality food and beverage sales opportunities
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including cash handling and cashiering duties, while balancing registers at shift end
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all service areas, including tables, trays, workstations.
- Assist in food preparation or kitchen support as needed to ensure smooth restaurant operations, including opening and closing the restaurant, setting the patio out, vacuuming in the morning and ensuring washroom facilities in the dining area are kept clean and tidy.
- Provide attentive guest services by checking on guests’ needs, addressing concerns promptly, and ensuring a welcoming environment
Requirements
- Previous food service experience or restaurant experience is highly preferred; familiarity with the food industry is a plus
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, energetic attitude that promotes guest satisfaction
- Passion for community and serving a longstanding customer base at a standard that has become our historic norm for over 40 years
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting, prioritizing tasks efficiently and work in a shared dining room with colleagues
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately and performing simple calculations/cash out procedures
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures to ensure guest safety - As the restaurant is licensed 'serving it right' a must
- Experience with food preparation or kitchen support is advantageous but not mandatory
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset to collaborate seamlessly with colleagues
- Must be someone that enjoys being social, understands social cues and can learn on their feet
