A fast-growing cultured dairy products manufacturer in the Toronto region has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Manager or a Maintenance Technician with a minimum of five years’ experience in a production setting involving maintenance of food processing and packaging equipment, electronics, instrumentation, HVAC systems, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Job overview
The Maintenance Manager or the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the safe and reliable execution of maintenance activities to ensure uninterrupted plant operations, such as processing and packaging, utility services, boilers, chillers, compressed air and general building maintenance. Utilize mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings and grounds.
Responsibilities
· Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and procedures that are cost effective and avoid loss of production time as a result of equipment malfunction or failure.
· Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all production equipment, including but not limited to: pumps, valves, pasteurizer, homogenizer, separator, processors and various other production equipment.
· Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all packaging equipment, including but not limited to: fillers, cappers, labellers, conveyors, date code printers, sleeving machines etc.
· Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all mechanical support equipment, including but not limited to: boiler, air-compressors, chilling units, HVAC system, etc.
· Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
· Analysis of equipment problems, identifying root causes of equipment problems, performing corrective and preventative maintenance expeditiously.
· Establish procedures and contacts to ensure timely upkeep and repairs of equipment.
· Responsible for all work being done in a timely fashion and done properly.
· Responsible for reviewing on a daily basis work orders and activity reports.
· Assist with preparing requisitions to maintain adequate inventory of spare parts and supplies to minimize stoppages of equipment etc.
· Read and interpret different types of schematics and diagrams, document the changes in schematics and diagrams so as to keep the plant records current.
· Review and follow technical and complex machinery manuals.
· Coach, mentor, direct workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
· Identify the contractors and service providers who can provide cost effective solutions and build relationships to get efficient maintenance service.
· Oversee installation and commissioning of new or relocated machinery
Desired attributes
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field with the hands-on experience of 3+ years is strongly preferred,
· Licensed Industrial Millwright with experience of 3+ years,
· Knowledge/Experience of PLCs,
· Working knowledge of employee safety, safety standards of equipment, and an experience of working in a plant with food safety and quality programs like HAACP, knowledge of SQF procedures will be an additional positive attribute.
· Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs,
· Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills,
· Effective verbal and written communication skills,
· Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)
