Job Description
We are seeking two HIGH ENERGY individuals who are passionate, out-going and promote FUN. These are full-time, temporary positions, funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Grant, located in the community of Fort McKay, AB. The position will run from approximately June 1st to August 21st, 2026.
Overview:
The role of the Youth Recreation & Leisure Programmer-SUMMER STUDENT is to work with team members to ensure that age appropriate recreational & leisure programming activities and opportunities are planned, organized, supervised, implemented, facilitated and evaluated for the children and youth served by the Association during After School Programs and Summer Camp.
Duties:
Recreation & Leisure Programmer- SUMMER STUDENT will assist in the planning, organization and facilitation of recreation & leisure programs based on the current needs of the children and youth being served. Activities will include, but are not limited to, a variety of programming such as sports, arts and crafts, science activities, baking, cooking, drama and theatre, literacy games, field trips and team building activities.
They are involved in many aspects including:
- Role modelling and mentoring
- Leadership training and development
- Sports, cultural, leisure and physical fitness activities, as well as social programs
Qualifications
The Youth Recreation & Leisure Programmer- SUMMER STUDENT will possess the following qualifications:
- These 2 positions are funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant to create Youth Employment Opportunities.
- Preference will be given to those who are currently studying a related discipline such as Recreation, Physical Education or Education
- Related experience working with children and youth
- Standard First Aid, CPR & AED Certification
- Child Intervention Check and RCMP Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check required prior to start date.
- Reliable transportation. Public transportation is NOT available.
- Knowledge of Indigenous community values and dynamics is an asset
