Overview
This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about gardening, working outdoors, and gaining experience in the landscaping field. Looking for part-time to full time, starting in ASAP and ending in November/December 2026. Horticulture knowledge and/or experience in outdoor or laborious work is an asset, but not a requirement. We work all over Ottawa and the surrounding area, so having a vehicle is preferred. Shift changes happen often and sometimes last minute due to weather and other factors beyond our control, so being flexible and able to work on a changing schedule is essential. Must be willing to work in varying weather conditions.
Duties
- Working bent and on your knees in order to weed and maintain gardens
- Shoveling, raking, and lifting of 50 pounds or more of landscape material
- Perform landscape maintenance including weeding, mowing, trimming, pruning, and planting
- Install and repair irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of landscapes
- Use hand tools and power tools for planting, edging, and other landscaping tasks
- Assist with construction projects related to landscape installation and improvements
- Ensure all work areas are clean, safe, and compliant with safety standards
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively
Experience
- Prior experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture is preferred
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, mechanical tools, and construction techniques is advantageous
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools and power tools for landscaping tasks
- Interest in horticultural practices and landscape design principles
- Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions
