Overview
Reporting to the VP Engineering, the Scheduler is an integral part of the ALCO project and engineering team. The Scheduler supports project planning and scheduling efforts, ensuring that projects are executed on time and within scope by working closely with project managers, production managers and senior management stakeholders to develop project schedules and monitor project progress through analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 software.
- Develop realistic schedules based on task coordination of project activities in engineering, procurement and production.
- Create Gantt charts, resource loading charts and other visual scheduling tools.
- Read and understand process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) to identify project scope.
- Support the project management team in identifying project milestones, dependencies, and critical paths.
- Gather and analyze data on project progress to provide insights on project status and potential risks.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure timely updates to project schedules.
- Identify potential issues in actual project execution.
- Propose strategies for maintaining projects on time and within allocated hours by offering project managers and other stakeholders’ advice on an appropriate plan of action to deal with the schedule issues.
- Participate in project and production meetings and document discussions and action items pertaining to scheduling activities.
- Preparing reports and presentations for project stakeholders.
- Preserving project files and updating project schedule procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in project scheduling processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have completed an industry recognized planning and scheduling training course.
- Proficient with Primavera P6, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Previous experience in Oil & Gas fabrication sector will be an asset.
- Previous experience with tasked based scheduling in a fabrication company will be an asset.
- Demonstrate an ability to prioritize activities and stay focused in a dynamic ever-changing environment.
- Ability to work under time constraints within a project team environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm for contributing to team success.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform job duties that may require sitting, standing and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including keyboarding, data entry and document handling.
- Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, reach and stretch as required to perform job duties.
- Ability to lift, carry, push or pull items 30lbs in accordance with safe work practices.
- Ability to work in various environments (office, site, warehouse, etc.,) as required by the role.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment or role-specific tools safely.
- Ability to work regular work hours and occasional overtime, as required.
