Our work includes marinas, docks, bridges, pile driving, shoreline protection, dredging, environmental restoration, dam maintenance, and other specialized marine construction projects.We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in securing new projects by preparing accurate, competitive estimates and working closely with project managers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the tendering process.If you enjoy solving complex construction challenges and want to work on projects that are anything but ordinary, we'd love to hear from you.Responsibilities
- Review tender packages, drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, fabrication, transportation, and marine access.
- Solicit and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Identify project risks, construction challenges, and opportunities during the estimating process.
- Prepare complete bid packages, proposals, and supporting documentation.
- Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and client meetings as required.
- Work closely with project managers and field personnel to develop practical construction methodologies.
- Participate in project handover meetings to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to operations.
- Maintain current pricing databases, production rates, and estimating records.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Monitor market trends, material pricing, and industry developments to maintain competitive bids.
- Assist with business development opportunities and identifying upcoming projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of estimating experience in the construction industry.
- Experience estimating heavy civil, marine, bridge, infrastructure, industrial, or structural projects is preferred.
- Marine construction experience is considered a significant asset.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, equipment, and project scheduling.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
- Ability to travel occasionally for site visits and pre-bid meetings.
