Part-Time French Teacher
Job Summary
Blake Christian Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time French Teacher to support the delivery of our growing French language program. The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead French Teacher to provide engaging French instruction, reinforce language skills, and create a positive learning environment for students in Grades JK–8.
This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys working with children, values collaboration, and is passionate about helping students develop confidence in speaking, reading, and understanding French.
Hours: 15–20 hours per week
Compensation: $20–$25 per hour, based on qualifications and experience
Responsibilities
- Deliver French language instruction in accordance with the school’s curriculum and program goals.
- Support the Lead French Teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
- Prepare and organize instructional materials and classroom resources.
- Assist with lesson planning, classroom projects, and student learning activities.
- Monitor and track student attendance, participation, and academic progress.
- Provide additional support to students who require extra assistance or reinforcement.
- Encourage student engagement through interactive and creative learning experiences.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and well-managed classroom environment.
- Supervise students during classroom activities and other assigned school functions.
- Assist with school events, presentations, cultural activities, and French-related programs.
- Communicate professionally with staff, students, and parents as required.
- Maintain organized classroom spaces and learning materials.
- Utilize educational technology and classroom equipment effectively.
Qualifications
- Fluency in spoken and written French.
- Experience teaching, tutoring, or working with children in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and school administration.
- Excellent organizational and classroom management abilities.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Experience with elementary-aged students is considered an asset.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred Qualifications
- French-language teaching experience. (willing to train)
- Familiarity with Ontario curriculum expectations.
- Experience supporting students with varying learning needs.
- Passion for Christian education and willingness to support the mission and values of Blake Academy.
