Job Title: Photo & Video Experience Host
Role: Part Time, Casual (4-6 events per month or approx. 15-30 hours per week)

About Flash Co.: Flash Co. provides photo and video services for weddings, corporate parties and brand activations. Flash Co. photo and video experiences are experiential, dynamic and happen in a variety of environments. Our photo and video experiences use a variety of technologies including, dSLR cameras, ipads, iphones, studio lighting and dye sublimation printers. We typically take on 150+ events per year. We offer shifts anytime during the week, but the majority of bookings happen afternoon/evenings Thursday through Sunday, with corporate bookings taking place weekdays Monday through Friday. Our busiest season is mid-May through mid-December, with a slower events season January-April.
Description:
We are looking for outgoing individuals who value event based work in a social environment over the typical part-time office job. This is a great opportunity to get started in the events industry, with hands on experience in a wide range of event types, including weddings, corporate parties/galas and brand activations in Calgary, Kananaskis, Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise.
Your role: Event Hosts complete set up and take down of the photo or video experience at events and ensure smooth operation and guest engagement throughout the event.
This role requires:
- Pick up of the equipment at Flash Co. HQ: ability to load the equipment, up to 50lbs in and out of your vehicle
- Drive to the event location (events can take place in Calgary & the surrounding areas, Kananaskis, Canmore, Banff or Lake Louise)
- Manage load-in at various venues and find parking for your vehicle
- Set up photo/video booth, complete system checks, troubleshoot any problems and send photos to your event contact for quality control
- Operating the booth throughout the event, interacting with guests and delivering a professional customer service experience consistent with Flash Co.’s brand standards.
- You will be delivering services at weddings, galas, corporate parties and celebrations. You will be dealing with large groups of people who are consuming alcohol. Many environments have a DJ or band playing.
- Performing on-site troubleshooting and fixing technical issues
- Disassembly of the equipment at the end of service and packing it into your vehicle
- Delivering the equipment back to Flash Co. HQ the night of the event
When You’ll Be Working:
Must be available May - mid-December a minimum of 4-6 events per month
Evenings and Weekends, including most Long weekends
Weekday corporate events - some take place between 9am and 5pm, some late afternoon or weekday evenings.
There is the ability to pick up more hours and more responsibility with proven ability in the role. Our team is growing and we are looking for Event Hosts who will eventually train new Event Hosts and manage the wedding/corporate portfolio of events.

Requirements:
- A valid Driver’s License
- Your own vehicle
- Can lift 40-50lbs into and out of your vehicle
- Have a Flexible schedule and available to pick up shifts late afternoons, evenings and weekends from May to mid-December

Assets:
- Considering most of our events are at weddings and corporate parties, having some experience at these types of events as a vendor/assistant is an asset.

- No photo or video booth experience is required, but being comfortable learning and troubleshooting new technology is an asset.
- Experience working with the public in a customer service or events-related setting, including but not limited to: brand ambassadorship, catering, weddings, corporate events, food and beverage, hotels & accommodations or hospitality.
Ideal Candidate:
Experience with events including weddings, banquets, catering and/or the service industry
Extroverted, great with people, enjoys being in a social atmosphere
Enjoys the flexibility of picking up casual shifts and working independently
Comfortable with simple technical tasks and on-site problem solving
Has their own vehicle
Free to work afternoons, evenings and weekends
Comfortable driving throughout Calgary and to Kananaskis, Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise for events at all times of year
Comfortable driving at night and in winter conditions.
Compensation & Growth Path
Training period - $20/hr
Lead Event Host $25/hr
Team Moderator & Trainer - $30/hr
Growth Path
- First 90 days paid trial period (assisting and learning on-site at events)
- 3-12 months: Lead Event Attendant (working 4-6 events a month or more)
- 12+ months with proven leadership ability and schedule fit:
- Team Trainer & Event Moderator (based on performance)
- Take on any events our casual team of workers is unable to take

- Master execution of all event services we offer
- Master tech troubleshooting and problem solving for all services we offer
- Ensure event deliverables meet quality standards

Working Conditions
- Part-Time, casual
- Paid onboarding and training during trial period at Flash Co. HQ (Calgary)
- On-site event work (in person at event site, Calgary & area, Kananaskis, Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise)
- Evening and weekend work required, especially in peak season from May to mid-December
- We are also looking for weekday availability to manage corporate events
