The Role
Bike Wentworth is looking for new team members to join our rental and service department. As a Service Technician, you’ll gain hands-on experience working with a high-quality fleet of mountain bikes in a dynamic bike park environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow your skills in bicycle mechanics and deepen your knowledge of the cycling industry.
Schedule
This role is primarily Thursday to Sunday during bike park operating hours. There may be opportunities for additional weekday work focused on bike maintenance, as well as cross-departmental work based on skills and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead by example by demonstrating punctuality, efficiency, professionalism, and initiative
- Maintain and repair mountain bikes to company standards, with support from senior technicians and the Service Manager
- Deliver a friendly, professional customer service experience
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of mountain bikes
- Assemble and test new bikes to ensure safety and proper performance
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues with accuracy and attention to detail
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
- Use computer systems to track repairs, inventory, and service records
- Communicate clearly with customers about repairs and technical issues
- Assist with inventory management and general shop operations as needed
Qualifications & Experience
- Passion for cycling and the outdoor industry
- Strong customer service skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Previous experience as a bike mechanic preferred with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Knowledge of modern mountain bike technologies preferred
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers
- Experience diagnosing and repairing e-bikes considered an asset
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 60 lbs
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Basic computer skills (repair tracking systems, email, online resources)
