The Manager of Data Integration (Azure ETL/ELT) will lead the strategy, delivery, and operational excellence of enterprise data pipelines across both Azure cloud and on-premises environments.
This role combines people leadership, architectural oversight, and platform ownership, with a strong focus on modern Azure-native data integration while supporting legacy SQL-based systems. You will lead a high-performing team of data engineers and be accountable for ETL platform performance, reliability, and scalability.
What You’ll Do
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data engineers and ETL developers
- Define and drive the ETL/ELT architecture roadmap, with a strong emphasis on Azure modernization
- Establish engineering standards, code review practices, and delivery excellence
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Cloud, and Data Governance teams, while owning ETL design decisions
Azure Data Engineering & Modernization
- Architect and oversee pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Fabric Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, and related services
- Lead the migration of legacy SSIS/on-prem ETL to scalable cloud-native solutions
- Design ingestion frameworks for structured, semi-structured (JSON, XML, CSV), and unstructured data
- Optimize pipeline performance, scalability, and cost using Azure monitoring tools
- Apply best practices: parallelization, metadata-driven pipelines, and parameterization
Data Quality, Governance & Security
- Implement data validation, monitoring, and automated quality controls
- Ensure compliance with data governance, lineage, and metadata standards
- Enforce security best practices (RBAC, managed identities, encryption)
- Support data privacy requirements (PII handling, masking, retention policies)
Operational Excellence
- Oversee daily operations: scheduling, monitoring, incident management
- Own and improve SLAs for data reliability, timeliness, and availability
- Implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Drive automation and resiliency across ETL processes
Collaboration & Delivery
- Partner with analytics, reporting, data science, and application teams
- Translate business needs into scalable data solutions
- Prioritize initiatives based on business value and impact
- Guide integration of new systems and data sources
What You Bring
Experience
- 7+ years in data engineering, ETL/ELT, or data integration
- 2–5+ years in team leadership or management roles
- Hands-on experience with: Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Azure Storage (ADLS Gen2), Azure Functions; SQL and modern ELT patterns
- Proven experience modernizing legacy ETL to cloud platforms
- Strong background in Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD practices
Pay: $105,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
