Math Tutor (Contract) — R² Academy Tutoring
Location: Scarborough (in-person) + Online across Ontario

About the role
R² Academy Tutoring is looking for a knowledgeable, reliable math tutor to join our team on a contract basis. You'll work one-on-one (and occasionally in small groups) with students from Grades 1 to 12, teaching the actual curriculum they're studying — not generic worksheets. This is a hybrid role: some students meet in person, others online. You set your own availability and control your own schedule. How much you work depends on student enrollment.
What you'll do
- Run in-person and online tutoring sessions, one-on-one or in small groups.
- Teach across the math curriculum: general math, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, advanced functions, calculus, and data management.
- Help students with homework, school assignments, exam prep, and understanding their course material.
- Adapt how you teach to fit each student's pace and learning style.
- Track student progress and give clear, useful feedback to students and parents.
- Build a supportive environment where students gain real confidence in math.
What we're looking for
- Minimum 4 years of tutoring or teaching experience in math.
- Strong command of high-school math, up to Grade 12.
- The ability to explain hard concepts clearly and patiently.
- Experience prepping students for tests, quizzes, and major exams (an asset).
- Additional languages — Mandarin, Spanish, French, Japanese, etc. (an asset).
- A genuine commitment to helping students do better in school.
- Comfortable teaching both in person and online.
Location & tech
- Must be able to tutor in person in Scarborough.
- Able to tutor in Pickering or nearby cities — a strong asset.
- Reliable internet connection and comfort with online teaching platforms.
- An iPad or tablet for digital whiteboard work — an asset.
One requirement before you start
A police record check, including vulnerable sector screening, must be completed successfully before the contract begins.
