Position Overview

We are currently seeking experienced Red Seal Tradespeople and qualified technical professionals interested in advancing into a high-impact career as a Safety Codes Officer (SCO).
Through our Employer-Sponsored Certification Program, Xplortek covers 100% of your required Safety Codes Council course fees and exams upfront while providing structured field mentorship alongside certified senior inspectors.
Duties & Responsibilities
Under the guidance of senior Safety Codes Officers and program mentors, the Trainee will:
Field Inspections: Conduct technical site inspections for construction projects to verify compliance with the Safety Codes Act, provincial codes, and related standards.
Code Interpretation & Technical Advice: Review blueprints, site plans, and permit applications; consult with contractors, builders, and property owners regarding technical code requirements.
Compliance Enforcement: Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, issue field notices, and document compliance items accurately.
Professional Development: Complete required Safety Codes Council coursework and practical training modules to achieve full Safety Codes Officer designation.
Public Relations: Deliver clear, professional, and courteous service while representing Xplortek in the field.
Qualifications & Requirements
Trade Certification: Journeyperson / Red Seal Endorsement in a recognized discipline (Electrical, Plumbing, Gas/HVAC, Carpentry/Building, etc.) OR an equivalent combination of technical education and field inspection experience.
Safety Codes Council Eligibility: Eligible for designation and registration as a Safety Codes Officer.
Technical Aptitude: Strong working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulatory standards.
Professionalism: High ethical standards with strong written report-writing and verbal communication skills.
Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.

100% Tuition & Exam Sponsorship: Xplortek pays all course registration fees, learning materials, and examination costs required for your SCO certification upfront.
1-Year Forgivable Retention Agreement: All education costs are 100% forgiven upon completion of one (1) full year of continuous service post-graduation (calculated on a pro-rated basis over 12 months).
Compensation Structure: You earn a competitive hourly wage during all active field inspections, mentorship, and operational duties.
(Note: Dedicated classroom/course study time is fully sponsored by Xplortek, but uncompensated as hourly wage time).
Pay: From $23.03 per hour
