ABOUT THE POSITION
AES is currently recruiting experienced AZ Cross-Border Drivers for a transportation operation based in Chatham, Ontario. This position involves same-day cross-border deliveries and pickups throughout Ohio and Michigan with drivers returning home daily whenever operationally possible. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity for professional drivers seeking long-term employment within a stable transportation environment. The successful candidate will be safety-focused, customer-oriented, and flexible to work on an on-call basis to support customer requirements.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Operate tractor-trailer equipment safely throughout Ontario, Michigan, and Ohio
- Complete cross-border deliveries and pickups while maintaining on-time service
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections
- Ensure compliance with all MTO, DOT, and FMCSA regulations
- Complete electronic logs and trip documentation accurately
- Communicate effectively with Dispatch and Operations
- Maintain a professional image when interacting with customers and border officials
- Report equipment issues, delays, incidents, and safety concerns immediately
- Ensure freight is transported safely and securely
- Always maintain company safety and compliance standards
REQUIREMENTS / CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid Ontario AZ Driver’s Licence
- Minimum of 2–3 years of verifiable AZ driving experience
- Day-trip cross-border routes with no overnight stays required
- Previous cross-border driving experience is preferred
- Must be eligible to travel across the Canada–U.S. border without restrictions
- Ability to work assigned routes and varying schedules as needed
- Must meet all Canada–U.S. cross-border eligibility requirements
- Required to provide a current Driver’s Abstract
- Required to comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test as a condition of hire
- On-call availability required to support operational needs
- Must successfully complete all pre-employment screening requirements
- Valid passport required
- FAST Card considered a valuable asset
- Clean driver’s abstract with a strong safety record
- Solid understanding of Hours-of-Service (HOS) regulations
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong commitment to punctuality, reliability, and consistent attendance
- Willingness to accommodate changing start times and operational demands
- Dependable, professional, and committed to safe operating practices
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Payrate $26.00 to $27.00 per hour shift premium
- Temporary-to-permanent employment opportunity
- Regular runs servicing Ohio and Michigan lanes
