Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Assistant Banquet Manager to oversee and elevate the food and beverage services within our fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage and coordinate a team to deliver exceptional service.
Note: We are recruiting for both full-time and casual Assistant Banquet Managers.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities
- Food and Beverage Operations: Coordinate and execute food and beverage services for events, ensuring all operational details are met. Monitor staffing levels, service standards, and support labour cost control, payroll, and event billing processes.
- Team Leadership: Lead and supervise the banquet service teams, ensuring tasks are delegated effectively, and service standards are consistently met. Provide ongoing coaching, training, and mentorship to support team development and performance.
- Guest & Client Relations: Liaise with clients before, during, and after events to ensure expectations are met and exceeded. Address guest inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally while promoting a strong guest experience culture.
- Operational Excellence: Follow opening and closing procedures to ensure efficient and seamless event execution. Maintain inventory levels and complete daily reports and consumption tracking to support accurate invoicing.
- Health, Safety, & Compliance: Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and service regulations are consistently followed. Promote and enforce workplace health and safety policies to maintain a safe environment for staff and guests.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in the hospitality industry, preferably within banquets, food service, or event operations.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to coordinate food and beverage services with a strong understanding of event logistics.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in staff supervision, training, and team development.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a guest-focused approach.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and service-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, etc.); familiarity with event management software is an asset.
- Valid Manitoba Smart Choices Certification required.
- Flexible availability, including the ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
