About Shelterly Management
Shelterly Management is a growing property and facilities management company providing professional building operations, maintenance oversight, and facility management services throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
We are seeking an experienced Building Operator to join our team and support the day-to-day operation of a premier commercial office property in Mississauga.
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring building systems, coordinating contractors, responding to service requests, and ensuring the facility operates safely and efficiently.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuilding Operations
- Perform daily inspections and building rounds.
- Monitor building mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems.
- Respond to occupant service requests and operational concerns.
- Maintain operating logs and inspection records.
- Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
HVAC & Building Automation Systems
- Monitor and troubleshoot HVAC equipment.
- Respond to BAS alarms and system notifications.
- Assist with temperature control and comfort-related concerns.
- Coordinate HVAC contractors and service providers.
- Support energy efficiency initiatives.
Electrical & Life Safety Systems
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical and mechanical rooms.
- Assist with generator testing and inspections.
- Coordinate fire alarm, sprinkler, and life safety contractors.
- Monitor and track corrective actions and deficiencies.
Vendor Management
- Coordinate and oversee contractors working on site.
- Verify completion and quality of work performed.
- Review service reports and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure contractors comply with site safety requirements.
Preventive Maintenance
- Assist with preventive maintenance programs.
- Monitor maintenance schedules and service completion.
- Support long-term asset preservation and reliability initiatives.
Emergency Response
- Respond to building emergencies including:
- HVAC failures
- Water leaks
- Power outages
- Fire alarms
- Elevator issues
- Other building-related emergencies
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 15 years of commercial building operations experience.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- Ability to troubleshoot building system issues.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Valid Ontario Driver's Licence.
Preferred
- BES I or BES II Certification.
- Building Operator Certification (BOC).
- Power Engineering Certification.
- Experience in Class A office buildings.
- Experience coordinating contractors and vendors.
Technical Knowledge
Experience with some or all of the following:
- HVAC Systems

- VAV Systems

- Sprinkler Systems
- Elevators
- Lighting Control Systems
- Preventive Maintenance Programs

Compensation
$75,000 – $111,000 per year
Compensation will be based on experience, certifications, technical expertise, and overall qualifications.

- Full-Time
- Participation in an on-call rotation for emergencies may be required
