SUMMARY
Provides routine manufacturing process engineering and technical support for Artaflex Inc.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Manufacturing Process Engineering
· Defines and set up efficient and cost-effective simple and routine manufacturing processes used in the day-to-day manufacture of a variety of products for EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) customers
· Provides technical assistance, support and training for various manufacturing areas in the efficient use of tools and equipments
· Provides engineering services on routine manufacturing processes including process definition and development, production support, process control, process documentation, labour quotation, equipment selection, equipment set-up and equipment operation/training
· Reviews and evaluates effectiveness of basic manufacturing processes and implements changes
· Generates, reviews and approves routine Engineering Change Order initiated internally or externally
· Interfaces with customers, suppliers, production and management personnel regarding process issues, as required
· Recommends selection and purchase of labour-saving equipment and methods
· Investigates and makes recommendations involving techniques to improve existing products or processes
· Investigates and implements new manufacturing processes
· Consults with tool and equipment suppliers and manufacturers in the selection and purchase of tools and equipment and prepares associated cost justifications for senior management
· Sets up and conducts de-briefing sessions with staff regarding new products or processes or major changes to existing products or processes
· Documents and maintains manufacturing procedures, records, files, technical data, reports and other similar records, as required
· Prepares new products for production release
· Evaluates and investigates root cause of process related issues and customer returns and implement effective corrective action
· Works with Quality Assurance and Production personnel to drive Continuous Improvement Process Initiatives.
· Inspects simple prototype first articles built by staff submitting first article assemblies for customer approval
· Assists test department to troubleshoot workmanship issues, as necessary
· Makes somewhat routine decisions affecting work inside own area, advising Production or Engineering Manager of the action taken, refers more complex and sensitive decisions to Production or Engineering Manager
SKILLS
· Post-secondary school completion in an engineering or electrical program and a minimum of two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Technical knowledge of electronics components and production including industry technical standards (ISO, IPC)
· Technical knowledge in manufacturing information systems including Windows, databases, specific software, graphic design, programming
· Ability to read/understand BOMs, assembly drawings, and schematics, identifying a variety of electronic components
· Ability to operate various production machinery including crimp machines, programming and calibrating coax stripper, SMT, Wave Solder and Mechanical Assembly equipment as applicable.
· Ability to apply knowledge of production planning to organize and execute various production plans simultaneously
· Applies knowledge of the company’s business and customers as well as corporate policies and procedures
· Good communication skills to deal effectively with immediate/senior management, co-workers/team members in own and other departments, customers, and suppliers, engaging in semi-routine exchanges of factual information such as verifying product information, and discussing labour estimates, explaining root cause and preventative actions
· Ability to operate office equipment such as computer, telephone, printer, and calculator, as well as assembly machinery and hand tools which includes prolonged repetitive motions requiring manual dexterity and precise hand/eye coordination
· Works on assignments and resolves problems that are routine in nature by analysing/interpreting the situation/data and reviewing relevant factors to determine an appropriate solution under well established methods and procedures
