In this role, you will bring your technical expertise to the table to lead internal project teams of engineers and support staff, guide the electrical design process, and ensure full compliance with industry standards and building codes.
Your Roles & Responsibilities
Project Management & Design:
- Collaborate closely within our multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional service to clients.
- Design building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, life safety, communication, and security systems.
- Partner with internal designers, architects, owners, and contractors to bring building designs to life.
- Utilize REVIT and related design software to produce precise construction documentation and coordinate across disciplines.
- Perform detailed design analysis to determine building electrical loads, lighting levels, and voltage drops.
- Oversee projects throughout the construction phase alongside our construction administration team (including shop drawing reviews, site meetings, and contract amendments).
- Develop, maintain, and edit technical specification documents.
- Conduct regular site visits and reviews for quality assurance and contract administration.
Learning & Development:
- Actively engage with professional associations and industry committees.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and advancements by participating in educational workshops and professional networks.
- Play an integral role in mentoring team members and advancing technical leadership within the firm.
Qualifications: Your Path to Success
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized Canadian (or equivalent) university, OR an Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma.
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience designing electrical systems specifically for buildings.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills applied to project decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to work seamlessly as part of a team.
- A solid understanding of Canadian commercial construction methods and design processes.
- A strong desire to continuously develop your skills and expand your career.
- Exceptionally strong general computer skills with the ability to adapt to new software quickly.
- Self-motivated with a proven track record of managing multiple competing priorities.
- Proficiency with standard office software (MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.).
- Current registration, or eligibility to register, with EGM (as a P.Eng/EIT/L.Eng) or with CTTAM (as a C.E.T.).
Preferred Assets:
- Hands-on experience with Autodesk Revit.
- Direct field experience within the construction industry.
- Familiarity with design and modeling tools like ETAP, SKM, Visual, and/or AGi32.
