Job Overview
We are seeking detail-oriented and experienced Independent Automotive Damage Appraisers to cover assignments in Northern & Eastern Ontario, specifically in Kenora, Timmins, Sudbury, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay and Ottawa.
In this role, you will travel locally to inspect damaged vehicles, capture comprehensive photo documentation, and draft accurate repair estimates using Mitchell estimating software. This is a flexible contract position paid on a per-assignment basis, ideal for established appraisers or independent contractors looking to supplement their existing workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to designated vehicle locations (residences, tow yards, or repair shops) to conduct thorough physical inspections of damaged vehicles.
- Take clear, detailed, and structured photographic evidence of vehicle identification numbers (VIN), odometer readings, license plates, and all areas of physical damage.
- Prepare and write precise, industry-standard collision damage estimates utilizing Mitchell Cloud Estimating.
- Identify potential prior damage, total loss scenarios, or necessary supplemental repairs.
- Submit completed photo packages, estimates, and inspection reports promptly within established turnaround times.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Software: Hands-on experience writing auto body collision estimates using Mitchell software is required.
- Experience: Prior experience as an automotive damage appraiser, insurance adjuster, or collision repair estimator.
- Vehicle & License: Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and a reliable personal vehicle to travel to inspection sites.
- Tools & Equipment: Digital camera or smartphone with high-resolution photo capability, computer, internet access, and digital measuring tools if applicable.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of vehicle construction, repair techniques, OEM parts guidelines, and labor rates. Excellent time management, communication, and self-scheduling abilities.
Compensation & Work Structure
- Pay Structure: Paid per completed inspection report/assignment.
- Schedule: Flexible / On-demand based on claim volume in your local area.
Pay: $1.00-$50,000.00 per year
