Tool and Die Makers / Leaders
Job type: 40-60 hours / 5-6 days per week full time / day and occasional afternoon shift
Wage: based on experience
NOC 7232 / Skill Level B
CTD is looking for experienced tool and die makers to manufacture tooling for the metal stamping industry. A self-sufficient and motivated person willing to obtain a long term position is mandatory.
PLEASE NOTE You must have TOOL AND DIE experience to apply for this position. Operating a stamping press or studying engineering DOES NOT QUALIFY for this job. We not accepting resumes from overseas applicants at this time.
Job requirements:
- Have minimal 5 years of practical shop experience building metal stamping dies.
- Local distance to our facility or currently in process of relocation.
- Have all the tools necessary for this position.
- Day and afternoon shift (although mainly day shift)
Prerequisites:
Maintain, improve, repair or modify tools, dies and fixtures, in a professional, cost-efficient manner.
Experience in Transfer, Line and Progressive Dies
Perform machining operations to a high degree of tolerance.
Must be an independent thinker, able to do most tasks independently
Accountabilities:
Plan and layout job assignments, determine sequence of machining operations. Perform machine operations requiring unusual and difficult setups, and methods to maintain very close tolerances and fits, including bench work involving grinding, manual machining, fitting, timing, spotting, assembly and adjusting to insure satisfactory operation.
Perform tooling die troubleshooting duties as assigned.
Die spotting to a high degree
Make tool tryouts, diagnose and correct problems, and make recommendations on tool modifications and methods required.
Work with Engineering Department and production employees to work out tooling and prototype refinements as necessary
Machine tools, jigs and fixtures to close tolerances. Verify dimensions of machine parts. Fabricate gauges, machined parts and dies. Machine, fit and assemble parts. Inspect and test final products. Set up machine tools. Understand and follow die designs. Instruct apprentices.

Apprentice will work under leader with opportunities to advance. Person must own basic tools for the trade and have basic knowledge of die making, print reading, measuring and machine operation.
