Nature of the work
The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists of assisting the teaching personnel in the preparation, presentation, supervision and evaluating of laboratory work, fieldwork and workshops.
Characteristic functions

Sets up laboratory apparatus and instruments and prepares all material required for laboratory sessions, workshop or field work.

Participates in the choice of such apparatus, tools, machines and instruments and makes sure they work properly and are rationally utilized.

Studies the operation and the utilization of the apparatus in order to adapt it to particular needs.

Is also responsible for the calibrating, maintenance and repairs to be done on such apparatus and, on certain instruments and laboratory electromechanical tools.

If needed, takes the material inventory and prepares purchase orders.
Required qualifications

To hold a college diploma with a specialty pertaining to the subject matter to be taught or a diploma or attestation of studies which is recognized by the competent authority.

Oral and written communication skills in English.

Oral and written communication skills in French would be an asset.

Nature du travail
Le rôle principal et habituel de la personne salariée de cette classe d’emplois consiste à assister le personnel enseignant dans la préparation, la présentation, la surveillance et l’évaluation de travaux de laboratoire, de stage ou d’atelier.
Attributions caractéristiques

Prépare le matériel exigé pour les séances de laboratoire, d’atelier ou de stage.

Participe au choix des appareils, outils, machines et instruments, les assemble au besoin et en assure le fonctionnement ainsi qu’une utilisation rationnelle.

Étudie le fonctionnement et l’utilisation des appareils afin de les adapter à des besoins spécifiques.

Fait également le calibrage, l’entretien et la réparation ; fait de même pour certains instruments et outils électromécaniques de laboratoire.

Voit à la tenue de l’inventaire du matériel et à la préparation des réquisitions.
Qualifications requises
-
Être titulaire d’un diplôme d’études collégiales avec champ de spécialisation pertinent aux matières enseignées, ou être titulaire d’un diplôme ou d’une attestation d’études dont l’équivalence est reconnue par l’autorité compétente.

La capacité de s’exprimer oralement et par écrit en anglais.

La capacité de s’exprimer oralement et par écrit en français serait un atout.
