Explore Edmonton is seeking a Research & Performance Manager to join the Business Systems team. This team develops and maintains systems and processes that support business planning, performance management, and informed decision-making across the organization.
Reporting to the Director, Business Systems, the Research & Performance Manager is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting organizational performance to various stakeholders. This includes identifying best practices and tools/systems for performance management. The role also conducts industry research in support of Explore Edmonton's operations, as well as organizational strategic and business planning. Using this information, the Research & Performance Manager helps identify opportunities and gaps and provides key data points to support decision-making.
What you'll do:

Extract data from various systems and files for regular and ad hoc reporting on team and organizational performance

Review and analyze performance measures for discrepancies, trends, and opportunities to support decision-making

Overlay performance results with industry indicators to track organizational impact

Prepare performance reports and presentations for management, the Board of Directors/Committees, and external partners

Leverage performance measurement tools to support internal and external partners, including surveys and economic impact calculations

Identify opportunities to improve the tracking and reporting of performance measures and evolve measures to better align with business needs

Track and report on industry indicators for internal and external reporting purposes

Review and analyze industry indicators for discrepancies, trends, and opportunities to support decision-making

Conduct industry research and environmental scans to identify opportunities and key challenges for destination management and marketing organizations, industry partners, and the visitor economy

Identify opportunities to improve the tracking and reporting of industry indicators and industry research

Liaise with vendors providing performance measurement and industry indicator systems and tools for troubleshooting, service changes, and feedback

Support business planning by managing the process to consolidate team plans and share cross-functional activities
What you bring:

Post-secondary education in business, economics, research analytics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

5–7 years of experience in performance management and/or data management
-
3–5 years of experience managing programs, projects, and/or teams
-
Strong ability to collect and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data
-
Detailed knowledge of performance management systems for organizations and teams
-
Strong analytical skills with the ability to critically assess complex situations and communicate findings clearly to appropriate audiences

Solid understanding of the tourism industry and visitor economy

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Well-developed communication skills with the ability to lead discussions, facilitate consensus, and communicate complex tourism-related concepts and statistics

Strong written and presentation skills

Customer-service orientation with the ability to build and manage relationships

Ability to function independently as well as part of a team to collaborate on solutions

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to plan and manage multiple tasks

Experience with CRM systems such as Simpleview, Power BI, and coding languages such as Python or R would be considered assets
