GFL Environmental is looking for full-time AZ/DZ Emergency Response Operators to support our liquid line of business out of our Thunder Bay, Ontario site.
Environmental and Industrial spills
Clandestine laboratory decommissioning
Highway incidents involving tractor trailers, accidents, and chemical leaks
Train derailments involving hazardous chemicals, fires, and site safety planning.
Marine operations mostly regarding fuel spills into open bodies of water. Involving boom deployment and boat operations.
Weather event responses involving wind/ice storms, forest fires, and flooding.
Chemical assessments and advisory services.
Working alongside police, fire, EMS, Environment Canada, and other stakeholders.
Incidents involving heavy equipment, vacuum trucks, and water blasters.
Collection of hazardous and non-hazardous goods
Participating in job specific and health & safety training as required
Completing work related documentation and reporting
Perform work in a safe manner, so as not to endanger oneself or others Reporting workplace hazards, accidents or other occurrences that may pose a risk to the organization or the safety of oneself or others
Adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act
Participate in team/staff meetings when required
Work in a manner that preserves confidentiality and minimizes risk
