Stark & Marsh CPA LLP (Shaunavon) is seeking a Record Keeper to join our growing department. This is a full time permeant position.
The Candidate:
Our successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring everyday financial transactions for corporate and personal clients. They will also prepare personal tax returns and deliver software generated financial statements to clients. The ideal candidate will have bookkeeping experience, however on the job training will also be provided.
Job duties include:
- Account transaction entry into a ledger or computer software
- Some account analysis
- Account reconciliation
- GST calculation and remittance
- Payroll account maintenance (issue payroll checks, deduction calculations, remittances)
- Corporate Tax account remittance
- Some analysis of financial statements
- Preparation of file for year-end completion
- Contact clients for records to be brought in and follow up for any missing information
- Entering trial balance into Accountant Software for yearend completion
- Preparation of personal tax returns which requires a commitment to longer hours through tax season
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in at least two of the following software programs: QuickBooks, Sage 50, AgExpert, and Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn the others as they are applicable to this position.
- Knowledge of Caseware, Taxprep and Profile programs an asset
- Excellent mathematical skills
- The ability to function with minimal supervision
- The ability to learn and follow firm processes
- Possess good personal skills and the ability to be able to communicate with clients as well as co-workers and management
- Pay attention to detail
- Good time management skills i.e. job task planning and organizing and meeting deadlines prescribed by the firm and CRA
- A good understanding of farming practices as well as business practices
- Very little decision-making skills required but seek direction in situations of uncertainty
Our successful candidate will receive technical training and immediate practical experience in their area of employment. While developing the required technical knowledge and diagnostic, project/process management, and information management skills, they will also strive to reach leadership, management, communications, and interpersonal competencies as cultivated within the firm.
