STORE JANITORIAL CLEANER

POSITION OVERVIEW
Canadian Tire is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Store Janitorial Cleaner to support ongoing store cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards. This role is designed to provide additional coverage and operational support to ensure consistent cleaning standards are maintained throughout the store, particularly during peak periods and high-traffic times.
The Secondary Janitorial Cleaner will work collaboratively with the existing janitorial team to ensure continuity of service, reduce physical strain, and support long-term sustainability of store operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Store Cleanliness & Presentation
- Perform routine cleaning tasks throughout the store, including floors, washrooms, staff areas, entrances, and high-traffic zones.
- Support daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning schedules to maintain company cleanliness standards.
- Ensure customer-facing areas are clean, safe, and presentable at all times.
Support & Coverage
- Provide supplemental coverage to support existing janitorial staff during peak periods, absences, and high-workload days.
- Assist with physically demanding tasks to help balance workload and maintain consistent service levels.
- Ensure uninterrupted janitorial coverage to reduce operational risk and service gaps.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, including WHMIS and proper chemical handling.
- Identify and report safety hazards, spills, or maintenance issues promptly.
- Support a clean and safe environment for customers, employees, and contractors.
Equipment & Supplies
- Use cleaning equipment and supplies safely and properly.
- Monitor supply levels and notify management when replenishment is required.
- Maintain janitorial equipment in good working condition.
Team Collaboration
- Work cooperatively with store leadership and team members to support daily operations.
- Adapt tasks based on store traffic, weather conditions, and operational priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous janitorial, custodial, or cleaning experience is an asset but not required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, lifting, bending, and cleaning for extended periods.
- Positive attitude and willingness to support a team-based environment.
- Basic understanding of cleaning products and equipment (training provided).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Retail environment requiring frequent movement throughout the store.
- May include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and flexible scheduling.
- In-person role.
