Founded in 1960, the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) is one of the largest and most comprehensive non-profit agencies in Ottawa and a registered charity. It provides mental health services, employment programs, emergency shelter, community, health and housing services, and justice programs to youth in the Ottawa area, serving between 2,500 and 3,000 at‑risk individuals aged 12+ and their families every month. YSB employs 400 caring professionals in a unionized environment in over 22 locations across Ottawa.
The Youth Engagement and Programs Facilitator for Youth Justice Services will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering structured programs that promote positive behavior, life skills development, and emotional growth among youth in a justice setting. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, providing direct support to youth, and ensuring the successful execution of projects/evaluations that promote positive outcomes.
This position also involves assessing participant needs, tracking progress, maintaining accurate records, and adapting programming to meet diverse cultural, developmental, and behavioral needs. Strong communication, de-escalation, and trauma-informed care skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop specialized programs and projects that address the unique needs of youth in the justice system, focusing on education, life skills, personal development and the social determinants of health

Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, to ensure successful project execution.

Lead group sessions, workshops, and special projects, ensuring they are engaging, interactive, and meet the program's objectives.

Provide one-on-one support to youth, helping them set and achieve personal goals through specialized projects (Youth Mentorship/leadership opportunities).

Work with other professionals, including case managers, prime workers, rec officer, coordinators, social workers, probation officers, educators, volunteers and community organizations, to facilitate services and support for youth.

Track the progress of program participants, collect data, and report on outcomes to ensure the effectiveness of the programs and projects.

Build relationships with community organizations, volunteers, spiritual services and stakeholders to enhance program offerings and support for youth with an EDI lens.

Ensure all programs and projects comply with relevant policies and organizational procedures.

Ability to work one evening per week and weekend per month.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree/diploma in Social Work, Psychology, CYC, Education, or a related field.

Minimum of 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth or in a related field. Experience in the justice system and project management is a plus.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to engage and motivate youth.

Knowledge of restorative justice principles and practices.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong facilitation skills

Successful applicants will be required to provide a clear Broad Police check obtained within the past six (6) months, as a condition of employment with YSB.

Additional compensation:

This position may qualify for overtime at 1.5 rate after 40 hours worked per week, as determined by YSB polices and the Collective Agreement in place;

This position may qualify for emergency shift compensation at 1.5 rate, as determined by YSB polices and the Collective Agreement in place.
