Summary of Position
Cadre’s Transit division offers our clients technical rail service solutions including commissioning and testing of new transit vehicles, warranty repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspection services. Our Technical Staff work with the leading Ontario transit suppliers and agencies, ensuring their equipment is available to provide reliable on time service to their passengers in some of North America’s largest transit systems.
Reporting to the Project Team Lead, the Pneumatic Technician (Pipefitter) will be responsible for supporting the installation and commissioning of a European Train Control system into a fleet of locomotives and cab cars operated on a major regional rail network operating within the GTHA. Our team of technicians will be responsible for the onsite installation of this complex system into the vehicles ensuring they are delivered to the customer on time and fully functional while meeting all contractual and EHS milestones.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Install and assemble all types of pneumatic piping (e.g., black steel piping, flexible hoses, copper pipes) for connections within the main brake pipe, emergency brake valves, service brake valves, and associated vents
- Integrate pneumatic components such as emergency brake magnet valves, service brake magnet valves, and pressure switches into the train's braking system

Read and accurately interpret pneumatic schematics, mechanical design concepts, and installation drawings to ensure precise system assembly

Collaborate effectively with other technical teams (e.g., electrical, mechanical, welding) and the Quality Assurance Technician to ensure integrated system performance and compliance
Requirements
- Completed post-secondary education in the field of Mechanical, Automotive, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited technical school or equivalent experience

3-5 years of proven experience involving the installation and maintenance of pneumatic and piping systems, preferably in rail, heavy machinery, or automotive industries
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail for precise fitment, secure connections, and leak prevention

Ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics

Strong communication skills and understanding of pneumatic principles, components, and system operation
Pay
- $42/hr, annual 10% bonus based on EHS performance and compliance, annual increases
