Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Microduct Fiber Optic Installer to join our telecommunications field team. This position is focused exclusively on the placement of micro‑fiber cable into existing microduct systems using cable jetting equipment. The ideal candidate has experience in fiber handling, understands microduct systems, and takes pride in precise, damage-free cable installation.
This is a non-supervisory, hands-on field position.
Key Responsibilities
- Place micro‑fiber cable into existing microduct systems using cable jetting/blowing machines
- Set up, operate, and maintain fiber jetting equipment in accordance with manufacturer and project specifications
- Inspect microducts prior to installation to ensure cleanliness, continuity, and readiness
- Monitor air pressure, tension, and feed rates to ensure safe, efficient cable placement
- Handle fiber optic cable carefully to prevent damage or signal impairment
- Perform basic troubleshooting during placement operations
- Accurately document installed footage, routes, and any issues encountered
- Follow construction drawings, work instructions, and job scopes
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Comply with all company safety policies and OH&S regulations
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience with microduct systems and micro‑fiber installation preferred
- Familiarity with fiber jetting/blowing machines (such as Fremco, Plumettaz, Jetting AB, or similar) is a strong asset
- Basic understanding of fiber handling best practices
- Ability to perform physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and patience for precision-based work
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Safety certifications (CSTS, CNST, First Aid) are an asset or willingness to obtain
