Job Summary:
The Body Shop Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily operations of the collision center. This role combines strong technical knowledge of autobody repair with leadership, workflow organization, financial oversight, and customer service. The manager ensures repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to OEM quality standards while maintaining high customer satisfaction and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership
- Lead and supervise technicians, painters, estimators, and administrative staff
- Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations
- Build a positive, high-performance culture focused on quality and efficiency
2. Production and Workflow Management
- Schedule and prioritize repair jobs to maximize productivity
- Assign resources based on workload and skill set
- Monitor WIP progress and resolve delays or bottlenecks
3. Quality Control
- Enforce OEM and I-CAR repair standards
- Inspect completed repairs and address deficiencies
- Support technicians with technical problem-solving and best practices
4. Customer Service
- Communicate with customers regarding estimates, timelines, and repair status
- Ensure a smooth and transparent customer experience
- Handle escalations or complaints professionally
5. Inventory and Vendor Management
- Manage parts and materials inventory
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing
- Ensure timely ordering to prevent repair delays
6. Safety and Compliance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Enforce OHSA, WSIB, environmental, and industry safety regulations
- Stay updated on new repair techniques and equipment
7. Financial and KPI Management
- Develop and manage shop budget, labor costs, and expenses
- Monitor financial performance and implement cost controls
- Track and improve key metrics such as cycle time, touch time, productivity, CSI, and profitability
Requirements:
- High school’s degree or equivalent experience in automotive, business, or related field
- Proven experience in collision repair, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Strong customer service and communication abilities
- Proficient with estimating and shop management software (CCC ONE, Mitchell, Qapter, Audatex, etc.)
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of industry regulations, OEM standards, and safety requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
