Join Spirit of Math as we open our first campus in Scarborough, Ontario, and become part of a passionate team dedicated to inspiring children and youth in Grades 1–6 through engaging and challenging mathematics learning.
Our campus will initially operate one evening per week, with additional teaching days added as enrollment grows.
All positions are part-time to start.
Available Positions:
- Grade 1–2 Teacher
- Grade 3–4 Teacher
- Grade 5–6 Teacher
The ideal candidate is patient, enthusiastic, and highly dependable. You are enthusiastic about working with children and youth and excel at creating a structured and engaging learning environment that encourages students to challenge themselves, develop resilience, and strengthen their problem-solving skills. You are skilled at making students feel valued and included, while maintaining clear expectations and consistent classroom management.
Strong mathematics skills are essential, along with an eagerness to learn the Spirit of Math teaching approach. You will be challenged to help students discover the conceptual building blocks and relationships that underlie mathematics. The training you receive as a Spirit of Math teacher will deepen your understanding of math and further develop your abilities as an educator.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Must be 18+, with a Bachelor’s Degree, and will be hired as an employee. A Bachelor of Education degree is an asset, but it is not mandatory.
- Successful completion of mandatory background screening (vulnerability check)
- Completion and passing of Spirit of Math’s online Fundamentals of Math 1 program.
- Completion and passing of Spirit of Math’s in-person Fundamentals of Math 2. The program is one week long.
- Ability to commit to regular weekly shifts from the end of August through the end of June, initially on Tuesdays starting at 3:45 p.m.
- Professional communication and classroom conduct required.
Responsibilities
The Teacher fosters a high trust learning environment, develops the values and math skills of students and builds strong relationships with parents.
The Teacher will be responsible for the following:
- Effectively managing the classroom to maintain a safe, orderly learning environment
- Adhering to the Spirit of Math teaching methodology and administrative system
- Delivering lessons to students
- Grading students assignments, tests and exams
- Building and maintaining relationships with parents
- Addressing issues with students’ performance and behaviour
- Drafting report cards three times per year
- Managing assistant teachers as needed
- Maintaining an up-to-date and accurate records of grades and attendance
- Performing peer evaluations periodically
- Attending professional development sessions several times per year

Pay: $32.00-$40.00 per hour
