Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant holds overall responsibility for the strategic planning, implementation, management, and operation of all financial activities within the company. These include critical accounting tasks such business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and other financial due diligence. And also includes Department management tasks, including process improvement and digital transformation.
Objectives of this Role
- Cultural Leadership & Employee Supervision: Provide leadership, direction, and management to the accounting team.
- Lead Operational Excellence: Take process improvement and digital transformation initiatives, Foster company culture and the development of policy and procedures.
- Financial Audits, Oversight & Compliance: Develop methodologies and practices to ensure financial documents comply with legal standards and best practices. Implement and monitor internal audits and controls to safeguard company assets.
- Long-Term Planning and Commercial Insight: Advise on long-term business and financial planning. Provide commercial insight, financial forecasting and budgeting, and leadership towards business plan targets.
- Expertise and Strategic Recommendations: Offer strategic advice to the CEO and the executive management team, for various financial decisions such as acquisitions and investing.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Preparing and reviewing financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements), ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
Budget Management: Developing and monitoring budgets, forecasting financial performance, and analyzing variances.
Financial Analysis: Analyzing financial data to identify trends, assess performance, and make recommendations for improvement.
Accounting Operations: Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including bookkeeping, transaction processing, and reconciliation.
Compliance: Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and other relevant regulations.
Staff Supervision: Hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating accounting staff.
Internal Controls: Implementing and maintaining internal controls over financial transactions and processes.
Tax Preparation: Assisting with tax planning and preparation, ensuring accurate and timely filing of tax returns.
Audits: Coordinating and participating in internal and external audits.
Strategic Planning: Providing strategic financial advice and recommendations to senior management.

Required Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is required. A CPA is highly desirable. Must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices and knowledge of tax laws and accounting regulations.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing SMEs, with proven leadership and Transformation experience.
Required SkillsComputing Skills
- Advanced QuickBooks Online Workflows is non-optional.
- Extensive Excel data manipulation experience is non-optional.
- Salesforce Reporting Skills are preferred.

About MagGas Medical Inc.
MagGas has been an established medical gas supplier since 1995, as well as a registered vendor with the Assistive Devices Program. We provide home oxygen therapy and respiratory supplies (such as CPAP machines), medical gas (such as medical oxygen and nitrous oxide), annual inspections, and cylinder maintenance and other services to numerous medical services throughout Ontario.
MagGas holds its own Drug Establishment License, allowing us to package, label and distribute our own oxygen. We are also very unique in that we also hold our own Transport Canada license which allows us to perform all cylinder maintenance on-site (e.g., cylinder repair, cylinder reconditioning, valve repair, etc.) including the hydrostatic testing of cylinders required for all cylinders every 5 or 10 years.
