All West Cold Milling Inc. is seeking a motivated, safety-conscious Flagger / Traffic Control Person to join our team for the construction season. This is a full-time seasonal position working on projects throughout Alberta.
No previous flagging experience is required. We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates a positive attitude, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety.
Employees are responsible for their own transportation to our shop in Crossfield, Alberta, where crews mobilize to various project sites.
Responsibilities
- Safely control and direct traffic through active work zones.
- Protect workers, equipment, and the public by maintaining safe traffic flow.
- Warn workers of approaching hazards and maintain constant situational awareness.
- Assist trucks and equipment entering and exiting work areas.
- Set up, inspect, maintain, and remove traffic control devices, signage, cones, and barricades.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers using hand signals and radio equipment.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain alertness and professionalism at all times.
- Complete required paperwork and documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence (or higher) with a clean driver's abstract.
- Reliable transportation to travel to our shop in Crossfield, AB.
- Previous road construction or traffic control experience is considered an asset but is not required.
- Traffic Control Person (TCP), CSTS, and Standard First Aid certifications are considered assets.
- Willingness to learn and participate in company-provided training.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with others.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to safety.
- Willingness to work overtime and extended hours when required.
- Ability to travel and work away from home for extended periods.
- Candidate must supply appropriate outdoor clothing and CSA-approved steel-toed footwear.
- Company will provide required PPE, including hard hats and high-visibility apparel.
Work Conditions
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work around heavy equipment and live traffic.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
- Ability to drive for extended periods.
- Construction season typically runs from April through November.
