Overview
Metropolitan Preparatory Academy is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and student-centred educator to join our faculty for the upcoming school year.
We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher who is committed to academic excellence, creative instruction, and building meaningful relationships with students in a supportive, independent school environment.
Teaching Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a selection of the following courses:
- Mathematics 9
- Science 9
- English 9
- Humanities-related courses at the Grade 7, 8, and 9 levels
All courses are taught in accordance with the Ontario Curriculum.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or a Master’s degree in a relevant field
- A strong academic background and excellent communication skills
- A passion for engaging students through innovative, student-focused teaching practices
- The ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
Preferred Qualifications
The following would be considered assets:
- Previous teaching experience in Grades 7–9
- Experience teaching multiple subject areas
- Familiarity with the Ontario Curriculum
- A willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school through extracurricular activities, athletics, arts, clubs, or student leadership initiatives
About Metropolitan Preparatory Academy
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans tailored to diverse learning styles and abilities
- Support students with disabilities by adapting instructional methods and materials to meet their individual needs
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and confidence
- Assess student progress regularly and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
- Incorporate tutoring strategies, particularly in Math, to reinforce learning objectives
- Maintain classroom organization, manage behavior, and ensure safety standards are upheld at all times
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and support staff to enhance educational programs
- Utilize strong communication skills to engage students and facilitate effective instruction
- Support students’ social-emotional development through mentorship and guidance
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred
- Classroom experience demonstrating the ability to manage diverse student needs effectively
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and build positive relationships with students, parents, and team members
- Experience in tutoring or teaching Math will be considered an asset
Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
