Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Shelter Attendant to provide essential support and care within our shelter facility. The ideal candidate will be trained to assist with administrative duties, provide medical support and perform shelter attendant tasks.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of shelter animals while maintaining a clean and organized environment. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals in need of care and compassion, contributing to a safe and supportive shelter environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the shelter environment, including kennel areas, common spaces, and shelter facility.
- Assist with intake and adoption procedures for animals, including documentation, basic medical assessments, and medical treatments.
- Collaborate with team members with a positive attitude to complete daily chores and ensure smooth shelter operations.
- Maintain accurate records related to animal care, supplies, and retail items.
- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a secure environment for animals and staff.
Experience
- Previous experience in a shelter, or related environment is preferred but not required.
- Medical knowledge is helpful to help detect and treat problematic medical issues with the animals.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Capable of multi-tasking in a stressful quick paced environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
- Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs within the shelter environment.
