Support Worker – Autism
Location: NW Calgary
Hours: Flexible. Daytime 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (weekdays), Evening shifts are also available
Pay: $25.16/hour (PDD rate)
We are looking for compassionate, reliable support workers to join a small team supporting an active 18-year-old autistic young man in his home and community.
This is a 2:1 support position, meaning you will always work alongside another support worker.
What you’ll do
The focus of this role is helping him build a meaningful, active adult life. A typical day may include:
- Hiking, walking, rollerblading, cycling, swimming, climbing, or going to the gym
- Community outings and recreational activities
- Supporting life skills such as dressing, showering, personal hygiene, meal preparation, and light household tasks
- Encouraging independence while providing support as needed
- Working collaboratively with the other support worker and family members
Qualifications
- Experience supporting autistic youth or adults
- Comfortable supporting individuals who may experience anxiety, dysregulation, or occasional aggression
- Training in non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI/CPI) or similar is an asset
- Physically active and able to participate in community fitness activities
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
- Current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (must be presented at the interview)
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset
