The Viking Health Centre is home to four doctors, 16 Acute Care beds, Emergency department, Maternities and deliveries and a steady OR department. OR services include general surgery, endoscopy, gastroscopy, obstetrics and gynecology, podiatry, and vasectomies.
As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Required to take call and live within 30 minutes of the facility when on call. Recent cardiology experience including ECG and Holter Monitor. The ability to effectively communicate in English. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and promote good teamwork, under pressure and in emergency situations Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, and attention to detail. Ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy in dealing with patients, staff, and physicians. Practices effective radiation protection, infection control, and safety techniques as applicable. Proficient computer skills. Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification Ability to adapt too many changes. Demonstrated desire and actions to further own knowledge relating to profession. Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and adapt to stressful situations using tact and diplomacy. Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures. Receptive to new ideas and change.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience operating and troubleshooting in the past 2 years: Diagnostic Imaging- Kodak 850 CR Reader, Shimadzu RadSpeed X-ray unit and Shimadzu MorbileArt for mobile x-ray. ECG-MacVu 360. Holter Monitors- Seer 1000 and Seer Lite. Lab- Vitros XT3400, ACL Elite Pro, Sysmex XN 530, Clinitek Status, I-Stat, and Triage MeterPro. Computer-Muse, AGFA-PEI, and Epic (Connect Care).
