About the Role
It's an exciting time to join Score’s Edmonton, Alberta team, we are looking for an evening Manual Machinist to support our Workshop team on a regular 4:00 pm - 12:30 am Monday to Friday schedule. This is a fantastic opportunity to expand your skills, while using your technical knowledge with a global company, reporting to the Workshop Team Lead.

This position is located in the Edmonton Workshop and the selected candidate will have strong capabilities on manual Horizontal Boring Mills and the Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL), including over 5+ years of experience. This is a 100% manual machining position, there are no CNC mills in the shop. They will have strong communication skills and a positive attitude. They enjoy problem-solving and working independently to follow our company procedures and system. They are committed to safety, and follow all safe work procedures..
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the General Housekeeping within the Department.
- Execution of risk assessments and hazard assessments (START Cards) on all related Work Scopes.
- Reviewing samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output.
- Planning the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
- Provide core competence on various machining operations.
- Participate in any Risk Assessments/Toolbox Talks.
- Ensure all Machine Shop QA Cards are filled out correctly.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures, standards, and other work instructions.
- Ensure that any problems with drawings or work instructions are reported to the Supervisor immediately.
- Assist other workshop personnel with any help they may require.
- Report any damaged tooling or machine breakdowns to the Supervisor.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations.
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
- Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, precision grinding and other operations.
- Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools.
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- May set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
- Any other reasonable duties required to meet the requirements of the business.
Qualifications and Education
- Completion of a four-year apprenticeship program (an asset).
- Proven experience as a machinist or in a similar role required.
- Proficient in operating manual machines required, working to tight tolerances.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

- Experience with the Betts Vertical Boring Mill and the TOS Varnsdorf W100A Horizontal Boring Mill are an asset
