About ABRO
ABRO Manufacturing is a growing precision CNC machining company based in Kitchener, Ontario. We specialize in complex, high-tolerance components using advanced CNC equipment, including multi-axis and mill-turn technology. Our mission is to become a leading supplier to the Canadian space and aerospace sectors by delivering exceptional precision, innovation, and reliability.
We’re a small, technically driven team with a strong focus on machining quality and challenging work. As we prepare for AS9100 certification, we’re looking for a skilled senior machinist who takes pride in craftsmanship and wants to work hands-on with advanced parts and processes.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior CNC Turning Machinist / Programmer with strong experience in CNC turning and mill-turn machining, Single and Dual Turret. This is a hands-on senior technical role, not a people-management position.
You will be responsible for programming, setup, machining, and optimizing turning-focused jobs from start to finish. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning their work, solving machining challenges, and producing high-quality parts in a precision environment.
What You’ll Do
Program, set up, and operate CNC turning and mill-turn machines to produce high-precision components.
Develop, optimize, and prove out CNC programs using CAM software (e.g. Mastercam, Fusion 360, ESPRIT or similar).
Own jobs from first article through production, ensuring quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
Select cutting tools, workholding, and machining strategies appropriate for tight-tolerance turning applications.
Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, programming, materials, or machine performance/maintenance.
Inspect parts and maintain dimensional accuracy in line with customer and aerospace-quality requirements.
Collaborate with team members, engineering and management on manufacturability, process improvements, and job planning.
Support continuous improvement efforts related to machining methods, cycle time reduction, and quality.
Work in alignment with AS9100 and aerospace manufacturing best practices.
What We're Looking For
5-7 years of CNC machining experience, with a strong focus on CNC turning or mill-turn (Single and Dual Turret Machines).
Solid programming experience for turning and mill-turn applications.
Strong understanding of precision machining, tight tolerances, and complex components.
Proficiency with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, ESPRIT, or equivalent.
Experience machining aerospace or high-performance materials (e.g. aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel).
Hands-on experience with tooling selection, workholding, and process optimization for turning operations.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Comfortable working independently in a small, fast paced shop environment.
Familiarity with AS9100 or quality management systems is an asset.
Support quality, safety and operational initiatives to help build a world class manufacturing technology company.
