Mechanical Designer

VTR Feeder Solutions Inc. - Grimsby, ON

*Please note this role is 100% in-person, on-site at our Grimsby facility.*

We are hiring Mechanical Designers to join our growing team! Successful candidates must have long-term experience and advanced knowledge of SolidWorks, with 3-5 years of experience working in a similar Design role. Candidates will demonstrate initiative, critical thinking, a team-oriented attitude, strong attention to detail, and effective organizational skills within a fast-paced environment. As an asset, candidates may also have experience and demonstrated knowledge of machine design and industrial automation. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity.

Shift Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 8.5-hour Day Shift; Employee must be on-site by 8:00am
½ Unpaid lunch from 12:30pm-1:00pm
Overtime paid after 40 hours

Hourly Rate: $30.00-$35.00/hour depending on experience

Overview:

Report to Engineering & Design Manager
Generate concept representation, proof of principle, preliminary or final design CAD models
Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes as needed
Design and perform proof of principle
Create and generate the manufacturing package and associated BOM
Maintain detailed notes, design calculations, and other documentation (including drawings, bill of materials, list of design parameters and performance guarantees)
Effectively communicate, coordinate, and troubleshoot with all necessary departments, including Service, Manufacturing, Assembly, Electrical Controls, and Project Management
Provide customer support as needed
Review and adapt to information regarding product innovations, competitors, and market conditions
Assist other team members as needed
Follow design standards and best practices
Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines, as well as VTR’s Mission, Vision, and Values
Other duties as required

What You'll Bring:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer
Experience and knowledge in machine design and industrial automation as an asset
Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks required
Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Design, and Drafting in CAD systems or related program
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Outlook, Word, & Teams
Strong attention to detail, communication, and time management skills
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Demonstrates adaptability and the ability to work under tight deadlines
Demonstrates innovative thinking and proactive/reactive problem-solving skills
Commitment to quality and safety

Additional Information:

Overtime after 40 hours
